24 North Bailey... the Union Society Bar

Sunday - Thursday 7.30pm - 11.30pm

Friday & Saturday 7.30pm - 12am

24 North Bailey

The Union Society's very own bar, situated at 24 North Bailey in the centre of town, hosts many of the Union's social events. It's also one of the Durham's best bars and is a key feature in any night out on the Bailey. Offering a great range of cocktails, shooters and imported beers - surpassing most other student bars - 24 has a unique atmosphere. Recently refurbished and with its own beer garden, this is a fantastic place to drink all year round.

Events at 24 North Bailey

The Reading Room The Snooker Tournament

The snooker room has been the scene of many a  memorable tournament; it is also the only full size  snooker in the University which can be used free of  charge

Details are still being confirmed, but the tournament will be open to all for a small entrance fee with the winner taking the pot. Matches will be played throughout Epiphany.

To enter, please email info@dus.org.uk.

Sunday Night Quiz

The infamously difficult big bar quizzes run every week throughout term and starts at 8pm in the bar. It's open to all members with no more than 5 in a team. The winners take the pot, teams can regularly walk away with £50!

The Reading Room

St Patrick's Day Party

Live music, leprechauns and lots and lots of Guinness! Details to follow.

 The Famous Garden Party

The beer garden is open every term and is the perfect place to enjoy Pimm's with friends. Annually, we host a summer garden party, with music, free drinks and often a bouncy castle! Full details will be made available nearer the time.

Living and working at 24 North Bailey

We also offer seven large rooms as student accommodation, giving members the chance to live right in the centre of Durham, next door to 24. Applications to live there normally open in late Michaelmas: they are closed for 2010/11 but details will be available for the following year in December.

The bar is staffed by students who are members of the Society. If you would like to apply for a shift, want to help run social events or want to book any of the facilities at 24, please email info@dus.org.uk.
