Where to find the Union
We have been based in several locations but are now based in our debating chamber and office on Palace Green and a Bar/Club and Residential House on the Bailey. Adjacent to a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Chamber sits between the imposing structures of Durham Cathedral and Castle, lending a dramatic atmosphere to debates.

The Debating Chamber
Situated between the Castle and Cathedral on Palace Green in the midst of Durham's World Heritage Site, the Chamber hosts the Union's debates, addresses and forums and has welcomed in the past figures as diverse Bertie Ahern, Boris Johnson and Michael Palin.
Directions to the Chamber
Leave the A1(M) at J62 and follow the A690 into Durham. Follow signs for the City Centre at the third exit of the roundabout. At the next roundabout take the second exit up the slip road signed 'Prince Bishop P'.
Turn left into the market palce and follow the road upwards. Turn right into Owengate, a steep cobbled hill which leads to Palace Green. The Union Society is located in the Pemberton Building, the second-last building on the left as you face Durham Cathedral, next door to the Almshouses restaurant.

24 North Bailey
24 is the Union Society's bar. It is a regular fixture on any Bailey bar crawl. It also has a lovely beer garden and extensive range of cocktails and imported beers. Open every evening, 24 is bound to become one your favourite places to drink in Durham.
Members have unlimited use of a full size snooker table, can apply here for some of the best student accommodation in Durham, can put up friends and parents cheaply in the en-suite guest room and can book the Reading Room for functions.
