I need to cancel part/ all of my registration, can I get a refund?

It is no longer possible to offer any refunds to any schools for any part of the registration fees that have already been paid. The costs to the Union of running the competition have already beeen paid to the University and Durham colleges.

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.

How many teams can we enter?

Each school can enter a maximum of 2 teams and a maximum of 2 observers. The 2 observers can be students or teachers. There is a range of registration options to cater to your team adn observer accommodation needs.

Where will we be staying?

Accommodation is provided in Hatfield, University and St Mary's colleges. I'll do my best to put teams together, with their teachers/observers within the limitations of the accommodation provided by the University (please remember that one of the building is a castle!).

What is the definition of a novice debater?

Any student who is in their first year of competitive debating and has not "broken" at another Schools competition -Oxford or Cambridge finals days for example - and has not competed in a past Durham Schools qualifies for our Novice Competition.

The Novice Cup Final takes place at the same time as the main competition semi-finals, so teams can only compete in one of the breaks. Also, both speakers in a team must qualify as novices for the team to be enterred into the Novice break.
