Jazz and Cocktails: Sunday 19th October

24 NBC is famous for its cocktails. To introduce new members, and to remind old taste buds, the Union is holding a Jazz and Cocktails evening on the second Sunday of term. Try out the 'Melon Baller', the 'Cosmopolitan' and the Union's signature cocktail 'Jelly Baby' for a fraction of the price you would pay on the bar whilst being serenaded by Durham's finest Jazz musicians.
This social is especially designed for second and third years meet up, have a relaxed (and cheap!) drink, and catch up on the summer gossip. It also is, for first years, the great way to finish off Freshers' Fortnight, escape college and meet other students from across the University.
Wine and Cheese: Wednesday 29th October

The Cheese and Wine tasting is a perennial favourite in the Michaelmas term and always booked out early. An evening spend sampling some of the country's best cheese and wine combinations begins in the Chamber before finishing in the reading room at 24 as people stay late into the night as we try to eat and drink everything which has been put before us.
This event has very limited places so be sure to buy your ticket well in advance!
US Election Party: Tuesday 4th November

Some people actually care who wins the White House, most just like any excuse for a mid term party. The important thing is that after eight years, George Bush is on the out. The Union plans to cater for everyone's tastes. As the bar shuts down, the party will get underway for 50 lucky members with tickets. With the last results not coming in until just before lectures start, you can expect to write off the next day. Nevertheless, this unique overnight party is the perfect way for you to celebrate of commiserate early into the morning as results are declared!
